To all CRIS site contacts:

CRIS is about to mail the letters from CSREES requesting that
you review and submit the Annual Program of Research and
Checklist Verification. It is a little different this year, as
the Plan of Work is considered a replacement for the Program of
Research for Hatch and Evans-Allen funds. However, the Program
of Research is still required for Animal Health and McIntire-
Stennis funds.

If you do not have a copy, this is the
letter from CSREES.

Access the following functions either from the home page message
box or from "Manage Project Information" on the Administrative
functions table. (If you have already visited the "CRIS Forms
Assistance" home page today, you may need to reload it in order
to see the new white message box.)

These are the simple steps for completing this request using the
Web Forms:

1 - Review your Project lists in the same manner, whether the
formal Program of Research is required or only the Checklist
verification, by clicking on the first link provided, "Review
/ Print / Modify Information on the Project List" (this is
essentially the same function that has been available since
mid-August with minor adjustments). Select the new output style
"FY 2000 Program of Research / Checklist verification". You
cannot select any other options, as the format for these lists
is determined by CRIS.

2 - Make any appropriate changes, following the instructions in
the letter from CSREES. Submit the changes to CRIS using the link
provided -- you can submit changes as often as you wish. The
change function will always be available, but in order to have
your Program of Research and CRIS Checklist as correct as
possible, you need to make these changes before the due date for
the Program of Research / Checklist verification October 15, 1999.

3 - If you have Animal Health or McIntire-Stennis projects, you
are required to print those lists for review and approval by your
Director (when you submit, you will be asked to verify that this
has been done and that the Director's signature is implied).
For the Checklist verification, you should still make sure an
appropriate review has been done. (Whenever you print the FY 2000
Program of Research / Checklist verification you will see all
pertinent changes that you have made since August 16 in italics.
This will help CRIS verify that all changes you have made using
the Web forms have also been made at CRIS.)

4 - Once approved internally, select the option to "Submit the
Program of Research / Checklist verification"... you will not be
able to do this if you have any changes that have not yet been
submitted to CRIS, so be sure to complete the change process
first.

When you have submitted a required Program of Research to CRIS,
CRIS will then forward an official copy to CSREES for approval.
The Checklist verification is needed to ensure that your list
of projects for AD-421 and AD-419 reporting is as correct as
possible before those lists are generated by CRIS immediately
after the Oct. 15 deadline.

We have an important request for you. We realize it may be an
extra step, but please do not bookmark any pages beyond the home
page at http://ctr.uvm.edu/cris. The main reason is that we
sometimes need to change Web server machines, and the only way we
can be sure to redirect your processes correctly is from the home
page. If you have any old bookmarks to any pages other than the
home page, PLEASE delete them! Please check to be sure that you
do NOT have any bookmarks to the Administrative functions table!
