LAST ISSUE !

Yes, this is the last time we will be sending CRIS Forms News to you. We feel it is just as easy to check the Web for news as it is to check your email. We sense that many recipients are not reading the news because at the moment it arrives, they are understandably, busy with other things. Even when you have good intentions to get back to it, it's too easy to forget to revisit old email. These News letters have always been posted on the Web for access whenever you need them, now that will be the only way you will get CRIS Forms News. This will allow us to improve the format and content, and link you to more detailed information. The News link is the very first link in the home page banner, and it will show the date of the latest "issue."

We will still maintain the distribution list for important alerts. And, if you are the site contact for a Web forms participating site, you will still receive periodic messages regarding important Web forms updates.

So bookmark http://ctr.uvm.edu/cris and read the News at your convenvience.

SEE YOU IN ST. LOUIS

Hope we will see many of you in St. Louis next week. Pat Downer, Sue Lang and Jan Iron will all be there, so if you are not there and you encounter any problems, recognize that the web server is unattended! Your problems will have to wait til we return April 27.

CRISFRMS - NEW VERSION WITH CLASSIFICATION COMBINATION CHANGE

There is a new version of CRISFRMS, 6.6. The only difference is a new table for checking the classification combinations of RPA, ACTIVITY, COMMODITY codes. Some new combinations are now allowed. You are not required to get this version, but if you think additional combinations might help you, you should update.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO USE CRISFRMS TO SUBMIT DATA TO CRIS, YOU MUST, REPEAT MUST ! BE USING AT LEAST 6.5B and you MUST submit the old files as well as the new files -- that means 3 files for AD-416s, 3 files for AD-421s, and 2 files for AD-419s.

WEB FORMS - CHANGES IN ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS

Some notable enhancements have been made in the Web forms.

First, the Administrative functions page has been restructured to help you more easily get to the function you need and bypass the documentation.

A new AD-421 process now allows you to submit AD-421s for projects for which an AD-421 has already been submitted this year. This is intended for early terminations, but it can also be used, if absolutely necessary, to correct a progress report that has previously been submitted. Using "Display Reports in-Progress", select the option to include ALL projects, whether or not they have been submitted to CRIS, and select the table with Edit/Print/Un-mark functions. Note that you can print or clear (erase) the submitted reports, but you cannot edit or unmark them unless you first clear out the old reports. Once you clear them, you can then enter new reports in the usual way to be submitted to CRIS. If you are submitting a "replacement" AD-421, please send a memo to CRIS indicating that the report is to replace the previous one.

Changes to the AD-416/417s include a new mark "Ready" to be submitted to CRIS. Previously, all projects that appeared to be complete were included in the files submitted to CRIS. Now, only those that you mark "Ready" will be submitted.

Another change, the screen that you get when you check the AD-417 data now shows the classification table with the full text of the classification codes, instead of a simulated AD-417 form. This should make it easier to see if the classification makes sense.
