Who can use the CRIS Web forms
If you are affiliated with a land grant university you may submit AD-416/417/2008, AD-421
Progress/Termination reports and AD-419 forms using the CRIS Web forms. Each institution
will need to identify a CRIS contact person (Site Contact) and supply a working email address.
The Site Contact will be responsible for distributing Web forms instructions and coordinating all
data submission. If you are affiliated with a land grant institution check the list of participating sites.
If you are not affiliated with a land grant university, you may still submit AD-416/417, AD-421
Progress/Termination reports and AD-419 forms using the CRIS Web forms by selecting the NSCG Non-State Cooperator Grants site
for your state or region.
The CRIS office will send Web forms instructions to the principal investigator for all required AD-421 and AD-419
reports.
Any Higher Education Program, International Program, or Multicultural Alliance grantee may use the SERD option to complete the AD-416/417 and AD-421 forms. If you are affiliated with a CSREES state partner institution, please check with your administrative site contact to find out how SERD grants are to be handled at your site before entering the AD-416/417 forms.
Advantages of using the Web Forms instead of paper forms
The Web Forms system is readily
accessible to Principal Investigators and administrators for
completing their CRIS forms and reports.
- Help and detailed explanations
are available for each information field to be completed.
The system is available to all users; whether they have PC, Mac, or Unix
computers.
It is accessible from
anywhere an Internet connection
can be made.
- From any campus office through the campus network, dial-up
through an Internet service
provider at remote stations, or even at home.
Web Forms limits input to
the correct CRIS
format.
- Web Forms data checking accepts only the allowable number of
characters and
also checks to be sure information entered is correct before it
is submitted.
CRIS needs to have all forms
submitted
electronically.
- If you are still submitting on paper, use of Web Forms
eliminates costly data entry at CRIS
that can delay processing and
introduce errors.
The information entered
becomes immediately available on the Web.
- A participating site's data is automatically available for
creating web-ready custom lists and reports or downloading for your own use.
Management of your site's data can be done from Web
Forms' Administrative functions.
Less administrative time will
be spent processing and
submitting the required reports.
- Investigators input directly to Web Forms. No data file
transfer is needed.
How to get started
Detailed tutorial materials and instructions for investigators
are available. Administrative users should start with the Tour of CRIS
Web Forms link from the About Us page for a hands-on explanation.
